May Savings for the Children

In the month of May we saved $85.  The savings were the result of the same kind of things we have been doing.  As usual, the biggest portion of the savings came from taking advantage of grocery store “Buy One Get One Free” type sales.  Allan had, at some point in time, signed up for special emails that allow for additional savings on certain items each week.  Several times the items were things we do use and/or needed.  So off he went on senior citizen discount days and saved an additional 5% on the total bill.
We continue to be pleased and amazed at how the savings are adding up.  Hopefully the dollars are making a difference and at the very least are filling hungry little tummies of malnourished children.  The sad thing is that we certainly are not giving sacrificially.  I almost think we should feel like we’re giving up more.  Maybe we will have to think about that.

The $85 we once again sent to World Vision.  It was to be used for Lifesaving Food and Care wherever needed.  The gift was multiplied 5 times so the benefit was really $425.  Wish I knew what that translates into actual “food and care” in other countries.  How much food does it buy, say in Chad?  How much in medical resources?   I guess I will have to focus on the part I do know; that we can more than live without what we are saving and that we are trying to get it into the hands of people who care what happens to children worldwide.
